Dec. 27 Royalty & Shyness

Yesterday I learned the Queen of England had been very shy and she may have selected Prince Philip because he was sensitive to shy qualities. Many of us saw her own father King George VI overcome painful stuttering in the 2010 popular film, The King’s Speech. That royalty also suffers from shyness underscores the fact that there are no quick fixes to overcome it, that even education and money do not suffice. The Prince  allowed her to express herself, standing by, offering encouragement. Having such a person seems like one source of help, but supportive people aren’t easy to find when you’re all alone. The Queen, being the most eligible woman in the world,  attracted all kinds of suitors and I think it is much to her credit that she knew to select the one who could help her feel more secure with herself.
