Being Shy versus Being an Introvert

About the shy person “being quiet.” Today I’m not the shy person who isn’t in the moment, who isn’t speaking because private concerns preoccupy my mind. Now I’m a happy introvert, in the moment, speaking when I want to. Sometimes I chose to be silent but I’m “with” the people around me—with eye contact, smiles, nods, saying “oh, yeah!” or “oh, no!” When I was shy my mind might drift away, I’d look bored or preoccupied and people might wonder, “Do you have anything to say?” No more. Being present in the moment is the greatest talent a shy person can learn. This is not to say I live in the moment, forgetting the past for I can be in the moment with others enjoying memories of the past. Please share with me your experiences with being in the moment.
